Why I Started The House Of Hybrid
My latest endeavor, House of Hybrid, is an emerging Etsy store offering handmade clothing, NFT posters, phone cases, and other distinct creations that reflect my passion and personality. As an autistic content creator, entrepreneur, and advocate for mental health and Black autistic lives matter, I strive to give a voice to those who are often overlooked and to provide a space for engaging conversations and collaborations.
However, my journey to establish the House of Hybrid was not easy. As a Black autistic man both in and out of the food and beverage industry, I have encountered numerous challenges, including discrimination, microaggressions, and a lack of accommodations, and support. I've had to work twice as hard as my peers to be seen as equal and to succeed in life. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, I was met with a lack of understanding and sensitivity towards neurodiversity. Many of my colleagues and superiors failed to acknowledge or accommodate my unique learning and communication style, leading to significant misunderstandings and frustrations.
My experience is not uncommon for individuals who are marginalized due to their race or disability. Discrimination, lack of accommodations, and the constant pressure to excel can be emotionally and physically draining, and it can take a toll on an individual's overall well-being. That's why I decided to create House of Hybrid as a platform for marginalized communities to showcase their talents and connect with like-minded individuals.
House of Hybrid is more than just a store; it's a lifestyle community. By creating a space for people to share their creativity and voice, I hope to uplift autistic individuals like myself, raise awareness about autism acceptance and autistic entrepreneurs, and advocate for mental health and Black autistic lives matter.
In summary, my journey towards creating House of Hybrid emphasizes the importance of inclusivity, acceptance, and community. It is crucial to recognize and accommodate the unique strengths and experiences of neurodiverse individuals and to create a space for them to thrive. By doing so, we can create a better and more inclusive society for all.
With that, I would like to Introduce my newest blog, the Hybrid POV! Each week, I will fearlessly share my unfiltered opinions on living with autism, dating, social life, and more.
